More than 300 persons have applied for Bahamas Power and Light (BPL) Voluntary Separation Packages (VSEP), according to BPL Chairman Darnell Osborne.

The corporation had initially intended to release around 200 employees, however, the packages have been oversubscribed.

The VSEP became available on  May 18 and closed on June 8.

On June 22, the employees who were approved will be notified and, at the end of the month, the separations will begin.

Despite the threat of industrial action when the layoffs were first announced, Osborne said, employees are satisfied with the offers.
