3 in custody after country’s latest homicide

A man is dead and another suffering from injuries as the country marked its latest homicide early Friday morning.

Investigators say that shortly after 2:00 a.m. Friday, a man was walking on the eastern side of the clinic on Baillou Hill Road, when he saw another man being chased by a group of men.

Police said the group opened fire and shot both him and the man running before they fled.

Emergency Medical Services (EMS) personnel were called to the scene and attempted to revive one of the injured victims, however, their attempts were unsuccessful. He was pronounced dead on the scene, police said.

The second victim was transported to hospital, treated for a minor injury and discharged.

Police have taken three men into custody in connection with this incident, which puts the murder count to 57 for the year.

Investigations are said to be ongoing.
