NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Three men appeared before Deputy Chief Magistrate Subusola Swain on Monday, charged with murder in separate incidents.
Peidreito Mejias, 20, and 20-year-old Alvardo Curry were arraigned for the alleged murder of Javardo “JoJo” Thompson and the alleged attempted murder of Antonio Morley, which took place at the Fox Hill Park on March 18, 2019.
The duo was not required to enter a plea and bail was denied.
Also, 21-year-old Ishmael Forbes was arraigned before Deputy Chief Magistrate Swain for the murder of Xiang Song, a Chinese native who was shot at his store in Nassau Village on March 17, 2019, and later died.
Forbes was also charged with armed robbery.
According to court dockets, Forbes allegedly stole $200 from Song’s store.
Forbes was also not required to enter a plea and he was denied bail. However, before adjourning, Forbes’ lawyers expressed to the magistrate that the suspect was allegedly beaten and tasered while in police custody.
All three murder suspects were remanded to The Bahamas Department of Correctional Services until April 14 for a voluntary bill of indictment.
Both matters were fast-tracked to the supreme court for a hearing.
