27-year-old RBPF officer killed in traffic accident

NASSAU, BAHAMAS — Police are investigating a traffic fatality that occurred on Sunday, 11th January 2026, which claimed the life of a 27-year-old male, a serving member of the Royal Bahamas Police Force.

Preliminary reports indicate that shortly before 7:00 p.m., police received information of a traffic collision on East Bay Street. Officers responded and, upon arrival, observed a vehicle with extensive damage after colliding with a wall. Inside the vehicle was the lone male driver, who was found unresponsive.

Fire Services were summoned to the scene and extricated the victim from the vehicle. In addition, Emergency Medical Services subsequently examined the victim and reported that he exhibited no signs of life.

Further investigations revealed that the victim was travelling east along East Bay Street when he reportedly lost control of the vehicle and collided with a wall on the northern side of the roadway.

Investigations into this latest traffic fatality are ongoing.
