NASSAU, BAHAMAS — As the trend of new coronavirus cases continues to slow, 25 new infections were confirmed on Friday and Saturday, according to the Ministry of Health.
The ministry reported nine new infections on Friday, all of which were on New Providence.
Another 16 cases were reported on Saturday.
Of these, 15 were on New Providence, and one case was confirmed on Long Island.
There has been a total of 22,513 COVID cases since the onset of the pandemic.
Of these, 288 cases remain active.
A total of 55 cases remain hospitalized.
There have been 661 COVID-related deaths.
Another 67 deaths remain under investigation.
To date, just shy of 160,000 RT PCR COVID-19 tests have been performed.
A total of 440 tests were performed on Saturday.
Five of these were repeated tests.
This reflects a positivity rate of three percent, in line with the WHO’s five percent recommendation.
