Woman dies in hospital after smashing window of home

NASSAU, BAHAMAS — Authorities were yesterday investigating the death of a women who reportedly sustained injuries to her arm after she smashed the glass window of a residence on Butterfly Close, off Soldier Road, on Saturday.

Paramedics transported the woman to hospital where she died. The incident reportedly took place at 8 p.m.

The circumstances surrounding the incident, classified as a sudden death, remain unclear.

The identity of the woman was not released.

Purported footage of the scene, recorded on a cellphone, showed a woman lying on the ground in front of the home in a pool of blood. Several voices can be heard in the video.

As the woman on the ground screams, another woman can be heard telling her not to move.

Another man is then heard advising the woman to “stay right there, stay right there”, before the camera pans on him trying to hold the woman’s arm in an attempt to console her.

As she continues to scream and writhe, the light of the cellphone shows her severed right arm, protruding blood near the deep laceration above her forearm.

A separate video of the aftermath of the incident surfaced on social media, showing several panes of broken glass near the front of the home.

Large splatters of blood could be seen around the window, on the ground and even the hood of a car parked in front of the home.

Police did not confirm or deny the footage was recorded at the scene.
