Watson looking to end Women’s Cup on a high note

The Bahamas women’s national basketball team will be back in action today following a day off from competition at the 2018 CBC Women’s Cup in Suriname.

The team will learn its next opponent following a draw that will take place this morning. In its last game, the women’s team earned a, 75-50, wire-to-wire victory over St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

“Although I’m not sure, I feel we will be going up against the Dominican Republic, so, I’m going to do some scouting on them. I have scouted them in the past and will just glance over a few tapes again,” said team Bahamas head coach Wayde Watson.

“We pretty much know where we are going to finish in this pool, so we are preparing to advance and play in the advanced rounds of the tournament.”

In regards to what he’s seen on the court from his team up to this point, Watson said he’s pleased with the energy but is concerned with the execution of set plays.

“The first game we didn’t do enough in regards to ball movement and getting stops,” she added.

“A lot of the women on this team have never represented the country internationally before, so it takes some time to adjust to the pressure and the competition. But we have done some good things on both ends of the floor.”
