Wanted suspect arraigned in GB

FREEPORT, GRAND BAHAMA – Tavares Demonte Beckford, 43, also known as “Foe”, a resident of Domingo Heights in New Providence, was arraigned on Wednesday, May 22, before Deputy Chief Magistrate Debbye Ferguson in Magistrate Court #1 on charges of murder, attempted murder, possession of dangerous drugs, four counts of possession of unlicensed firearm, two counts of possession of ammunition with the intent to supply and one count of possession of ammunition.

Beckford pleaded guilty to the charge of possession of dangerous drugs, namely marijuana, and was fined $200 or four months at the Bahamas Department Correctional Services.

Beckford was not required to enter a plea on the other charges, and a preliminary inquiry will commence on August 28, 2019.

Beckford was remanded to The Bahamas Department of Correctional Services until trial.

Also from the courts in Grand Bahama, Tajh Brown, 25, of Alberta Drive in the Sunrise Subdivision, was arraigned on Wednesday before Deputy Chief Magistrate Debbye Ferguson in Magistrate Court #1, charged with harboring a criminal, possession of dangerous drugs, four counts of possession of an unlicensed firearm, two counts of possession of ammunition with the intent to supply and one count of possession of ammunition.

Brown pleaded not guilty to the charge of possession of dangerous drugs and was granted bail in the amount of $500 cash.

Brown was not required to enter a plea on the other charges, and a preliminary inquiry will commence on August 28, 2019.

He was remanded to the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services until trial.
