WAITING TO EXPAND: Fusion hoping to get more staff back to work soon

NASSAU, BAHAMAS — Fusion Superplex executives said yesterday they hope to expand more of their services so they can reengage more than 100 staff that remain furloughed.

Carlos Foulkes, in an interview with Eyewitness News, said: “We were closed for quite a while — 11 months precisely. For the cinemas, we were able to get a reduced occupancy permit. We’re operating at limited capacity for safety reasons, obviously. We are at 33 percent capacity in the cinemas and we needed it.

“We were closed a long time. We had many of our employees who were at home waiting to be called back to work.”

Foulkes added: “We don’t have everyone back yet because we’re not fully opened yet. When the business has returned to full power, we will be able to get everyone who has been furloughed back to some gainful employment.

“People still have responsibilities; they still have light bills to pay — they didn’t go away because they are not working. They still have insurance to pay and buy groceries. We want to be a part of the economic solution, so as soon as we are able, we want to expand more services and get everyone back to work.

“We have 325 employees total and about 200 of those are employed in the operation because we are forced to close at 9pm.”

Fusion reopened its outdoor dining restaurant Edge in December and began operating its theaters again at reduced capacity in January.
