NASSAU, BAHAMAS — Village Road is earmarked for improvement, according to the Ministry of Public Works, which has allocated some $7,141,788.80 in the 2021/2022 budget to rehabilitate the single carriageway between East Bay Street and St. Andrew’s Drive.
Minister of Public Works Desmond Bannister, in his contribution to the budget debate, said the roadway’s condition has deteriorated over its 20-plus-year lifespan.
He said: “The Ministry of Public Works is desirous to rehabilitate this roadway, improve its level of service and install critical power and water infrastructure upgrades in conjunction with Bahamas Power and Light and Water and Sewerage Corporation.
“To this end, the Ministry of Public Works engaged in a tender exercise for the procurement of a design and build-type contract to develop detailed design and construction of the identified works.”
