Unions ready to represent webshop employees

While the Bahamas Financial Services Union (BFSU) fights to represent Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) employees, the union’s leader said it also wants to become the bargaining unit for local gaming employees.

BFSU President Therese Mortimer reasoned recently that employees in the gaming industry should be represented by the BFSU, considering the operations are categorized as part of the country’s financial services industry.

Meantime, President of the Bahamas Gaming Operators Association (BGOA) Gershon Major told Eyewitness News that employees are fully compensated for all of the day’s they are required to work, in full accordance with the Employment Act.

He said team members represent a diverse group of highly trained professionals from entry to executive levels, who enjoy the benefits of an innovative industry that cares for its employees.
