Golf lovers will have an opportunity to tee off for a good cause in the coming weeks, during the second edition of the University of the Bahamas’ President’s Golf Classic fundraiser.
Set for November 3 at Baha Mar’s Royal Blue Golf Course, the event aims to help more Bahamians gain access to a tertiary education. Monies raised from the classic will increase endowed scholarships for first-generation university students.
“These first-year university students have the potential to impact the lives of their entire families and surrounding communities,” said UB President Rodney Smith. “At UB, we are introducing more diversity at the campus, and a part of that diversity will come through a wider array of athletics, including sailing, and of course, golf. All of this is essential to creating a first-class facility that will have a national impact. For UB to grow in a consequential way, we have to forge many public and private partnerships, and Baha Mar has come on as one of those partners.”
Event organizers are also hosting a golf clinic for beginners on the same day.
Those seeking further information on the Classic are asked to visit the tournament’s website at ubgolfclassic@ub.edu.bs or call (242) 677-9000.
