Two murders in 24-hours

One man stabbed to death, another shot dead and four others injured

NASSAU, BAHAMAS — A man was stabbed to death yesterday morning at a residence on Joe Farrington Road, according to police.

The incident, which took place at 10am, came just hours after a man was killed and four others were injured in a drive-by shooting in the area of Peter Street west.

According to police, a group of men were at a residence in the eastern area of New Providence on Wednesday morning when a man known to them walked in, produced a sharp object and stabbed one of the men.

The suspect fled on foot.

The victim was transported to the hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

His identity was not released.

Officers responding to gunshots via ShotSpotter around 7pm on Tuesday, found five men with gunshot injuries.

The group was standing in front of a residence when a Japanese vehicle approached, stopped and two men exited the vehicle armed with handguns.

Police said both men fired shots in direction of the group and hit five of them.

One man died on the scene.

The other victims were transported to hospital and were being treated for their injuries.

Assistant Superintendent Audley Peters said the incident did not appear to be gang-related.

He said there was no evidence to suggest the incidents were connected though police were early in their investigation.
