NASSAU, BAHAMAS — Two men were arrested on Sunday for attempted murder and possession of a firearm following a shooting incident on Spenser Corner and Key West Street.

Officers responded to reports of shots in the area shortly before 6pm.

According to police, a group of people were gathered outside a yard, when a dark-colored vehicle pulled up and opened fire on them. Two men were injured and had to be transported to the hospital by a private vehicle.

They were listed in serious condition.

Police said an APB was issued on the vehicle and officers on one of the Operations Units spotted a vehicle fitting the description speeding on Cordeaux Avenue.

The vehicle was pursued and stopped on Lincoln Boulevard.

Police said two occupants exited the vehicle, but as officers approached them, one of the men ran and a chase ensued.

Police said as the suspect was running, an officer noticed that he threw an object.

The man was captured and taken back to the area where the object was thrown and an extensive search was conducted, resulting in officers finding a black 9mm pistol.

Police said when they searched the vehicle, they found a 9mm spent casing.

Both men were arrested and taken into custody and investigations into the matter continue.

Police said they also arrested four men in separate incidents on Sunday for unlicensed firearms and ammunition.

In the first incident, shortly before 9am, officers at the intersection of East Street and Sapodilla Boulevard saw a burgundy Nissan Note that aroused their suspicion.
The vehicle was stopped and searched and officers found a black Springfield Armory 9mm pistol with nine unfired rounds of ammunition.
One man was arrested and taken into custody.
In the second incident, shortly after 10pm, officers from the COVID operation on West Bay Street and Atlantic Drive became suspicious of a gray Nissan Cube.
The vehicle was stopped and searched and officers found a 9mm Glock pistol.

Three men were arrested in connection with the incident.
