Two arraigned for country’s second murder

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – James Thompson, 30, and Robert Arthur, 23, were arraigned on Tuesday for the murder of Joel Russell.

Thompson was charged with murder and Arthur was charged with being an accessory after the fact.

The men were not required to enter a plea to the charges and they were remanded to the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services until April 15 when they are expected to return to court for a Voluntary Bill of Indictment.

Joel Russell was killed in Pinewood Gardens last week Thursday.

According to police reports, the shooting incident happened shortly after 11:00 p.m. where Russell was found by police with multiple gunshot wounds on Willow Tree Avenue, Pinewood Gardens.

Paramedics were called to the scene, however their attempts to revive the victim were unsuccessful.
