Three Grand Bahamian men were hauled before the Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday afternoon on a series of drug charges connected to that significant drug bust in waters off South Andros on October 25.
The trio, Kenny Major, 34 of Pink Pearl Drive; Anthone Bain, 36 of Laceby Lane and Brian Marshall, 41, of Arden Forest were arraigned before Deputy Chief Magistrate Subusola Swain.
According to court dockets, the trio was arraigned for possession of dangerous drugs with the intent to supply, importation of dangerous drugs, conspiracy of possession of dangerous drugs and conspiracy to import dangerous drugs.
It is alleged that the men, between October 21 and October 25, conspired to possess and import a quantity of dangerous drugs – namely Indian Hemp.
It is further alleged that on October 25, the men were found in the area of Fish Cay, South Andros with a quantity of suspected Indian Hemp in their possession with the intent to import and supply.
Police estimated that the confiscated drugs weighed 3, 870 pounds.
The suspected Indian Hemp was reportedly neatly packed into 85 bails, authorities confirmed.
Police estimate that the suspected drugs have an estimated street value of $3.8 million dollars.
The men, represented by attorneys Ian Cargill and David Cash, pleaded not guilty to all charges.
The men were denied bail and have been remanded to the Bahamas Department of Corrections (BDC) until their trial commences on February 1.
