The Ministry of Finance is currently undergoing a performance management reform that its newly appointed Deputy Financial Secretary for Operations, Eugenia Cartwright, will intimately be responsible for following through.

Creating history as the first female to serve as treasurer in the Public Treasury Department, Cartwright is being ushered into the position to help ensure the ministry continues to make significant progress with becoming up-to-date with the production of financial information.  Other duties will include recruiting much needed talent and establishing procedures to guarantee a more streamlined ministry.

“The fact that we are not able to produce financial information on the fly is just hindering process because by the time as we get information, the event has passed and we are chasing to keep up,” said Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Peter Turnquest during an appreciation luncheon for Cartwright at the Paul Farquharson Conference Centre yesterday.

“Those of you who are in the Ministry of Finance and in the Treasury will know that we have suffered from a significant amount of attrition. So, we are overworked and understaffed.”

The hopes of the upcoming reformation strongly depend on Cartwright who comes with 19 years of services to the Public Treasury, which she considers a “privilege”.
