Three appear in court on separate charges

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Three adult males appeared before Chief Magistrate Joyann Ferguson- Pratt in the magistrate’s court on Monday, all charged on separate matters.

In the first incident, Devon Ellis, 25, was charged with attempted murder.

The particulars are that Ellis on Oct. 26, attempted to cause the death of Trevor Mackey, Jr.

He was not required to enter a plea and was not granted bail. The prosecution agreed on a Voluntary Bill of Indictment and Ellis and he was remanded to the Department Of Corrections until Feb. 7, 2019.

In the second incident, Charvis McPhee, 21, was charged with abetment to murder. He was represented by attorney Ian Cargill.

The particulars are that McPhee, on Nov. 12, purposely aided and abetted in committing the murder of Stantavia Lord.

McPhee was not required to enter a plea and was denied bail. The prosecution agreed on a Voluntary Bill of Indictment and he has been remanded to the Department of Corrections until he is set to stand trial on February 8.

In a third incident, Newton Bowe, 22,  was charged with armed robbery. According to court dockets, on Nov. 9, Bowe, armed with a knife, stole a red Yamaha motorcycle valued at some $1,500 and the property of Christopher Nixon.

He was also charged with receiving a red Yamaha motorcycle knowing that it was not truthfully obtained.

The prosecution agreed on a Voluntary Bill of Indictment. Bowe was not required to enter a plea and has been remanded to the Department of Corrections until trial on February 8.

Bowe was also represented by Attorney Ian Cargill.
