NASSAU, BAHAMAS — The Bahamas Lawn Tennis Association (BLTA) expressed their condolences on the passing of well-known businessman and tennis player Brent Johnson, along with his wife Eulona Dean.
Johnson and Dean were killed in a car accident around 6pm on Christmas day, with their daughters who were also in the car having been hospitalized with serious injuries.
The BLTA in a statement said: “The entire tennis community deeply mourns the death of Brent Johnson and Eulona Dean. Brent was one of our top adult tennis players, winning multiple championship categories over the years in singles and doubles play. Brent served on numerous administration in the capacity as treasurer and council member for the BLTA. Brent was also an ITF Level 1 coach.
“Brent was affable, loving, sincere and had a heart of gold.
“Eulona also had a love for tennis, playing tennis in college. She served most recently in 2018 as a director on the National Tennis Center. Eulona also officiated for the BLTA at our International Tennis Federation tournaments in Nassau.
“Eulona was kind, loving and a consummate professional in whatever she put her hands to.
“The couple gave generously and unselfishly to the up-building of tennis in the Bahamas. The president, officers and members of the Bahamas Lawn Tennis Association and the directors of the National Tennis Center extend our deepest condolences to the family of Brent and Eulona.”
The BLTA asked for members of the public at large to join them in praying for Brent and Eulona’s daughters, Kinza and Sarni Johnson, who at last report remained in hospital.
“We pray for the entire family for God’s healing, comfort and his peace that surpasseth all understanding,” the statement read.
