Teen provides breakfast for 45 students at Sandilands Primary

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A growing charity started by a local junior high school student is seeking to put the ‘fun’ in fundraising, while helping to end child poverty in New Providence one nose at a time.

With Red Nose Day approaching in just a few months, Founder of Red Nose Day Bahamas, Caden Smith, provided breakfast for 45 students at Sandilands Primary School in New Providence.

“I did a breakfast for them this morning,” Smith said. “A simple breakfast because they gave to me, so I want to give back to them.

“I also focused on breakfast because breakfast it is the most important meal of the day. I feel like to start the day off well, we should eat breakfast.”

Vice Principal of St. Anne’s Primary School, Nicolette Archer, told Eyewitness News Online that Caden’s endeavours are proof that the school’s effort to instill civic values have not been done in vain.

“We have a character education program, and to see Caden develop something like this shows that what we are doing is working,” she explained.

“What excites me the most about Caden is that this is now her fourth year. She started when she was in the primary department and she has been committed and she has been working it year in and year out. I’m really excited that she has this in her heart.”

The local Red Nose Day in The Bahamas will be held on February 15 to raise awareness and funds to help children in need.

Anyone who is willing to make a donation can contact St. Anne’s School for more information.
