Team Bahamas scores win over St. Vincent

The Bahamas women’s national basketball team rebounded from an opening-round loss to Cuba on Sunday, with a wire-to-wire win over St. Vincent and the Grenadines yesterday, as the CBC Women’s Cup continued in Suriname.

The Bahamas jumped out to an early lead and never let up, cruising to a 75-50 win.

Tracy Lewis had 14 in the win for The Bahamas; Valerie Nesbit and Pamela Bethel added 12 points each, and Brea Forbes chipped in with nine.

Vasha Adams led St. Vincent with 16 points.

The Bahamas led by just four at the end of the first quarter (13-9), but used a second-quarter scoring run to push the lead to 14 at the half (37-23). St. Vincent never got closer than within 10 the remainder of the game.

Team Bahamas bounced back with a strong effort on both ends of the floor, after being outmatched by Cuba in a 77-50 loss in game one.
