The Bahamas water polo team picked up three medals over the weekend in Wiley, Barbados at the 2019 CARIFTA Water Polo Championships.
The Under-16 team picked up a gold medal, edging out Trinidad and Tobago 12-11 in the championship game yesterday at the Barbados Aquatic Center. Mateo Ferguson scored four goals in the win for The Bahamas, while Oliver Roberts, Jelani Grant, Dominic Beneby and Jayden Fernander each added two goals a piece. The U-16 team also picked up a wins over Curacao (24-1) and Trinidad and Tobago (11-7) on the way to the gold medal.
The Bahamas U-14 coed team collected a silver medal, falling 25-14 to Trinidad and Tobago in the division finale. The Under-14 team also scored wins over Barbados (13-4) and Bonaire (24-2) in Barbados.
The Bahamas’ final medal of the competition came in the U-19 boys division. Team Bahamas beat out Bonaire 15-10 in the bronze medal game.
