The Bahamian and Sons Promotions “Backyard Rumble II: Bahamas vs. Jamaica” fight card produced some mixed results for the local fighters that competed.
The card was headlined by a heavyweight match between Sherman “The Tank” Williams (42-15-23 KO’s) and American Stacy Fraizer (16-21) and hosted at the Kendal G.L. Isaacs National Gymnasium.
Tank scored a first round TKO to pick up the win over Fraizer. After an exchange with Tank in the center of the ring at the midway point of the first round, Fraizer claimed to have injured his hand, brining a premature stop to the fight.
“I’m really disappointed I wasn’t able to put on the kind of show I wanted to in front of the home crowd,” Williams said following the fight. “It’s really a shame that he quit the way that he did. I wanted to take him to at least the third round before I took him out. However, I am happy that I was able to create an opportunity for some of our local fighters to make their professional debuts. This gives them a chance to gauge where they are at, and what they need to work on moving forward.
“We at Bahamian Sons Promotions are definitely looking forward to hosting more shows like this in The Bahamas to raise the profile of our boxers, because we really have some talented guys here.”
On the undercard, Malik Glinton picked up a win in his debut at 160 pounds, scoring a TKO win in the third over Kyre Woods, from Jamaica.
Also, in an exhibition match, welterweight Tyrone Oliver scored a TKO over Toriano Nicholas, from Jamaica in the first round.
Team Jamaica picked up two wins on the night in the cruiserweight and middleweight divisions.
Chad Richards scored a split decision over Israel Johnson at 190 pounds, while Alando Lewis won by unanimous decision over Chino Sherman at 160 pounds.
