A gated community in western New Providence was rocked by a suicide Wednesday night, police confirmed.
According to reports, shortly after 11:00 p.m. Wednesday, police were called to a residence in Venetian West.
Upon arrival, officers found the lifeless body of a female lying in bed with a plastic bag wrapped around her head.
Paramedics were called to the scene; however, they were unsuccessful with reviving her.
She was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
Investigations are ongoing.
Butt drug smuggler nabbed
A Suriname resident found himself in hot water Wednesday after attempting to smuggle a quantity of drugs into the country.
According to police, the man was found carrying drugs in his rectum.
Police reports revealed that the 29-year-old Guyanese male was taken into custody at Lynden Pindling International Airport (LPIA) shortly before 4:00 p.m. Wednesday.
The man arrived into the country via a flight from Jamaica, police revealed.
He was taken to hospital and later excreted a number of capsules, each containing a quantity of cocaine, reports said.
Police confirm that the man will be formally charged once he has been released from hospital.
