As the first day of school commenced on Monday, parents and students alike exhibited their enthusiasm as they entered new grades.

Eyewitness News visited schools across New Providence with Miss World Bahamas Brinique Gibson and experienced first-hand the joy of new students as they embarked on a new school year.

Rotary Bahamas partnered with Columbus Primary and laid out a red carpet to welcome students back.

Administrative staff at the school also took time to speak on their goals for the 2018/2019 school year.

Eyewitness News also visited Charles W. Saunders and the Government High Schools along with Stephen Dillet and got an appreciation of each school’s focus and mandate for the new year from healthier diet habits to a focus on mathematics and science subjects.
