Standford men visit St. Cecilia’s Primary School

In town for the 2018 Bad Boy Mowers Battle 4 Atlantis tournament, the Stanford men’s basketball team visited the St. Cecelia’s Primary School on Monday.

Along with preparing for the game, the team decided to spend some of its free time doing community outreach.

The visit started with words of advice to the students from players and members of the coaching staff, followed by a basketball clinic.

“This is a great opportunity for the guys to get out and interact with the kids and teach them some basketball and other fundamental skills,” said Cardinals head coach Jerod Haase.  “Once we got everyone organized, we worked on a little bit of dribbling and shooting skills with them.

“At Stanford we have a lot of great things, but it’s important for us to get out and make an impact in the community.”

Haase said that although it is important for his players to reach out to members of the local community, his focus remains on the task at hand, having a good showing at B4A.

“This does become a business trip at the end of the day,” he added. “This is a great tournament and a great opportunity as well. We know that the teams here are very good and we have to be zoned in to compete against them.”

Stanford begins its time at B4A on Wednesday against the University of Wisconsin. Tipoff is set for 2:30 p.m.
