Pregnant teen among 6 women charged in Key West Street murder

Four women and two juvenile girls, one of whom is pregnant, were all charged with the recent stabbing death of Breanna Mackey on Wednesday.

The women accused of the young mother’s death are Thea Williams, 20, of Wulff Road; Zaria Burrows, 19, of East Street South; Davanya Lawes, 19; and Dervinique Edwards, 20, both of Watling Street.

A 16-year-old girl of Wilson Tract and another 17-year-old girl of East Street are the two juveniles accused of the murder.

Burrows, who is pregnant, is being represented by attorney Gina Morley.

Mackey, a mother of one, was stabbed to death in Englerston last week. Police have alleged she was approached by three females while walking on Key West Street. Police said the three women in question, exited a silver Honda vehicle – armed with sharp instruments.

According to police reports, the victim was stabbed multiple times by the women before they got back into the vehicle and sped off. Mackey was taken to hospital where she later died.

Mob Scene

On the way to Magistrates Court, South Street, the group was greeted by an angry mob.

Barricades and armed police officers kept Mackey’s raging family members and friends at bay as the women were taken into the courthouse.

Each of them faced Magistrate Joyann Ferguson-Pratt with one count of non-capital murder.

It is alleged that the suspects, while being concerned with others, unlawfully caused the death of Mackey on January 25.

The women did not have to enter pleas and will remain on remanded at the Bahamas Department of Corrections until March 14.

They will be served a voluntary bill of indictment, voiding a preliminary investigation and the case will be sent straight to the Supreme Court.
