NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Special Olympics Bahamas is looking to form new corporate partnerships, following its return from the 2019 Special Olympics in Abu Dhabi next month.

According to Special Olympics Bahamas director Gilbert Williams, the association had to deplete all of its funds to assist in getting the 36-member team to the games.

“We received far less corporate support than we would have liked, but we are hoping that can turnaround after the team puts on a good performance at the games,” Williams said. “We basically had to spend the money we use to keep the program running on a daily basis. These athletes and coaches have been working tirelessly preparing for the games, and I’m excited about these games and the opportunities, experience and exposure they will mean for our athletes and coaches alike.”

The Bahamas will be competing in 5 sports, athletics, aquatics, bocce, Unified bowling and Unified 7-a-side soccer. The delegation consists of athletes and coaches from New Providence, Grand Bahama and Abaco.

Companies, groups and individuals wishing to support team Bahamas financially, may make donations by contacting 3562433, 3593558, 4770304 or by e-mailing info@specialolympicsbahamas.
