Solomon’s to host 5th Annual Back-To-School Trade Show Featuring Afterschool Club Options For Students

Afterschool club options for students

As Summer comes to a close, parents are preparing thousands of students to head back to the classroom. This Saturday, August 25, Solomon’s Super Center on Old Trail Road will host its 5th Annual Back-To-School Trade Show for parents seeking savings on school items and solutions for afterschool activities.

Beginning at noon, shoppers visiting the store can sign their children up for afterschool clubs including Junior Achievement, Bahamas Elite Sports Academy, Little Protégés Bahamas, GGYA, Swift Swimming Club, The Future School of Dance, Uniforms For All and the Zonta Club. Participating wholesale vendors will also be on hand, sampling food items and conducting product demonstrations.

Solomon’s Marketing Manager and event organizer Shekia Albury said Saturday’s trade show is a way to assist parents in preparing for the busy school year ahead.

“For this year’s event, we wanted to reward parents by offering options for after-school activities. We know that schedules tend to get extremely busy once the school year begins and this gives them an opportunity to get more information about reputable afterschool programs all in one location, ” Albury explained.

“We’re also offering a chance for 20 parents to win ‘Good Luck Parents’ packages at our four Solomon’s locations—Old Trail and Yamacraw in New Providence and Solomon’s Lucaya and Solomon’s Queen’s Highway in Grand Bahama as a way to say ‘thank you’ to mothers and fathers who sacrifice so much for their children throughout the entire year.”

This summer Solomon’s parent company, AML Foods Ltd. also assisted parents further by partnering with local non-profit group Uniforms For All (UFA). The group is dedicated to recycling uniforms for high school students attending private and public schools in New Providence. UFA donation bins were placed in Solomon’s Super Center, Solomon’s Yamacraw and Cost Right locations throughout the summer. More than 1000 pieces were collected and are currently being distributed to families needing extra assistance heading into the new school year.

“We were pleased to assist UFA in reaching their goal of collecting, cleaning and distributing school uniforms to deserving students. This also lessens the burden on parents with financial challenges as they prepare for back-to-school,” she said.

Saturday’s trade show will feature deals and savings on grocery items and school supplies. In addition to the afterschool programs showcasing this weekend, Solomon’s customers can also look forward to giveaways and free sampling from participating product vendors including Kellogg’s, Liquid Fruit, Essential Everyday, Lysol, Colgate, Organics, Ensure, PediaSure, Glucerna, Stayflo and Nabisco. The trade show is set to take place on Saturday at Solomon’s Super Center on the East West Highway from 12 p.m.- 5 p.m.
