Smith named WHAC athlete of the week

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Indiana Tech Senior Alfredo Smith was named the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Track and Field athlete on Monday, following a strong showing at the 2018 Mastodon Opener in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Smith won the men’s long jump at the event with a mark of 7.08 meters (m), hitting the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) “A” standard. Smith also came second in the men’s triple jump with a mark of 13.88m.

Last season, Smith won two individual event titles for the Warriors, including the Gene Edmonds Invitational long jump championship with a personal best of 7.31m.

He also won the long jump and came second in the triple jump at the WHAC Indoor Championships. He also placed fourth in the long jump at the NAIA Indoor Nationals.
