Shooting victim dies in hospital

NASSAU, BAHAMAS — A man has died in hospital after he was shot multiple times by gunmen yesterday evening.

According to reports, a woman passerby was also shot in the leg during the incident, which took place on Hepburn Alley shortly after 6pm.

Assistant Superintendent Audley Peters said police were told that three men exited a gray Nissan Note armed with firearms.

“The suspects discharged their weapons in the direction of a male, injuring him,” Peters said in a statement.

Peters said a woman who was walking in the area also received gunshot wounds in the leg and is listed in stable condition at hospital. Investigation into this matter continues.

Police are also investigating a second shooting incident that took place some three hours later at the Mall Close off Soldier Road west.

Peters said a man was walking along, when a black Honda Fit approached him.

“A male passenger exited the vehicle armed with a firearm and discharged the weapon in his direction, injuring him. The victim was transported to the hospital, where he is listed in critical condition,” he said.
