Olympic gold medalist and Bahamian track star, Shaunae Miller-Uibo solidified herself in track & field history yet again this past weekend, with a matching world-record in the women’s 300 meters at the 2018 New York Road Runners (NYRR) Millrose Games.
The Olympian raced a time of 35.45 in the women’s event on Saturday, marking her personal best and earned her an induction in the lineage of world record holders for this event.
She placed a record of 35.71 at last year’s track meet but now shares the world-record with Russia’s Irina Privalova.
Mille-Uibo is currently in the prime of her career as she prepares for the IAAF World Indoor Championships in Birmingham, UK, March 1-4.
“Coach wanted me to come out here and run a pretty good time and it was a world record,” the gold medalist said
The Olympian, who carries the pride of The Bahamas on her back, said she plans on bringing the same record-breaking energy to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Minister of Youth Sports & Culture Michael Pintard congratulated the gold medalist in a statement issued this weekend.
“It is my esteemed pleasure to convey congratulations on her stellar performance. She continues to make our country proud,” he said.
“We wish her continued success on the road ahead to the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.”
