Bahamian heavyweight boxer Amron Sands looks to continue his climb up the professional ranks this weekend when he steps back in the ring to compete in his second match of the year.

Sands (3-0, 3 KO’s) will take on American Larry Knight (1-13) out of Atlanta, Georgia in a non-title right on Saturdayin St. Pete, Florida.

Sands currently trains at the Orlando Boxing Academy under Coach Jose Cruz.

“Amron’s progress has been incredible up to this point,” Cruz said in an interview about Sands.

“He’s really coming into his own. He’s just over 6’5″ and around 250 pounds, but he moves like a middleweight. He has good footwork and he’s an aggressive fighter.”

As Sands gets more fights under his belt, Cruz says he hopes to ramp up his conditioning to prepare for bigger fights.

“We want to eventually work our way up to eight rounds. Right now, we’re at four, so we want to get to six next and then make our way up to eight,” Cruz said.

In his last fight, Sands scored a quick first round knockout over American Kevin Houston. He also knocked out opponents Eric Evans and Julio Mendoza in the first rounds of their fights as well.
