Baha Mar exceeds booking expectations
Baha Mar executives said Thursday that Rosewood at Baha Mar is on schedule to open its doors by Spring 2018.
Baha Mar President Graeme Davis told Eyewitness News Online that Rosewood has had an estimated $40 million upgrade since Chow Tai Fook Enterprises (CTFE) assumed ownership of the resort destination.
“Our crowning jewel, the Rosewood at Baha Mar is on schedule to open up springtime of 2018. Our target date is May 22. ‘Save the Dates’ are presently going out,” said Davis.
“Rosewood at Baha Mar had an estimated $40 million dollar upgrade to the project since we took over is right on target.
“China Construction America (CCA) continues to do great work for us in updating the guest rooms; full new furniture package. We’ve added an additional pool; an additional $6 million-dollar restaurant out by that pool. So, the progress has been tremendous.”
According to Davis, the Rosewood will open bookings on June 1.
“The bookings are strong already,” he said.
Davis also said that the Grand Hyatt is exceeding booking expectations, as the hotel nears full capacity for the Easter holiday break. The hotel, which opened 11 months ago, is operating ahead of its budgeted plan, according to Davis.
“We’ve exceeded expectations right now,” said an excited Davis.
“The Hyatt is well above their plan at the moment. SLS as well is exceeding. We are very excited and confident on the progress we’ve made so far with both Hyatt and SLS opened in November and both are exceeding all of our expectations on bookings so far.
“We’re almost full here with the Easter Holiday coming up.”
According to Davis, the resort expects an equally, if not busier booking schedule for April and May.
He said, “We have some great group incentive business is coming in here after Easter. April and May are going to be very busy as we launch into our summer season which we’re very confident with its progress and bookings at the moment.”
Davis said the luxury resort is very close to reaching its 5,000-employee quota with just a little over 4,000 Bahamians employed.
