Neither properties have announced reopening dates
NASSAU, BAHAMAS — Available reservation dates for two major resort properties in New Providence have appeared on their websites.
Atlantis Paradise Islands shows available booking dates as of December 1, 2020.
Similarly, travel dates for reservations with Grand Hyatt, Rosewood, and SLS Baha Mar have become available as of November 22, 2020.
Neither properties have announced reopening dates.
It remains unclear if the available booking dates have implications on their reopening.
While Rosewood at Baha Mar shows available booking dates on its website as of October 15, a notice advises that October 15-16 is unavailable.
“We apologize for the inconvenience,” reads the notice.
“This hotel is not available on October 15, 2020. Please select alternate dates.”
The next available booking dates upon searching appears as November 22.
Rosewood has also advertised a promotion to book three nights and get the fourth night free between November 22 and December 19.
“Indulge in endless exploration when you linger just a bit longer at Rosewood, Baha Mar,” reads the promotion.
“Book a three-night stay in select room types and receive an extra complimentary night in our elegantly appointed accommodations.”
The ‘More Rosewood’ promotion also includes 50 percent off on all activities operated by Baha Mar and a $100 resort credit per paid night that cannot be applied toward the room rate.
When contacted, Baha Mar Senior Vice President of Government and External Affairs Robert Sands maintained the resort has yet to announce its reopening date.
He indicated the hotel’s president, Graeme Davis, is expected to make a statement concerning the resort in the near future.
Baha Mar was slated to reopen this month.
But Davis announced last month the resort decided to delay its reopening further due to the COVID-19 situation in The Bahamas and key markets in the United States.
At the time, Davis said the resort will share another update in October as it pertains to the ongoing efforts and possible reopening date.
The resort also announced employees will continue to be paid 30 percent of their base pay as an ex gratia payment for up to an additional 90 days, in addition to any payments being offered by the government.
Attempts to reach executives at Atlantis were unsuccessful.
According to Atlantis’ website, reservations booked starting June 15 and beyond, for arrivals dates through March 10, 2021, can be canceled at no charge up to 72 hours before guests’ scheduled arrival.
The policy applies to reservations made directly through Atlantis.
Under ‘Frequently Asked Questions: How will Atlantis, Paradise Island determine if it can reopen’, the resorts notes: “Atlantis is focused on the health, safety, and well-being of our team members and guests first.
“We remain in constant contact with the appropriate health departments including The Bahamas Ministry of Health and the Office of the Prime Minister of The Bahamas to ensure we are adhering to local orders as well as those issued by the World Health Organization.
“Atlantis will not reopen before travel restrictions to The Bahamas are lifted. That is up to the government of The Bahamas. At that time, we will evaluate the global COVID-19 situation and make a determination.
“We look forward to welcoming guests back as soon as it’s advisable. Please continue to check our website or follow us on social media for updates. We appreciate your patience and understanding.”
