NASSAU, BAHAMAS — Officers of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force (RBDF) last week set forth on an Easter initiative to give back to the less fortunate in the community.

Led by Commander Natasha Miller, the RBDF commanding officer for the Military Police and Force Protection Unit (MPFPU), and Force Chief Petty Officer Oral Wood, the team of officers and marines visited the Nazareth Centre for Children, Millennium Gardens, to spread Easter cheer. Receiving the gifts was the acting administrator, Elizabeth Mackey.

The RBDF team also went to The Bahamas Children’s Emergency Hostel, McKinney Drive, where they left smiles on the children’s faces. Receiving the donations was Andrea Gibson, business manager of the residence.

According to Miller, her team sought to reach the hearts of children ages three to 15 years old with assorted gift baskets of chocolates, coloring books, dolls and toy cars. She also estimated that between the two organizations, approximately 60 children will receive an Easter basket this year.

During this solemn week for the Christian community, the RBDF continues to work with the community with outreach initiatives, as part of Commander Defence Force Commodore Dr Raymond King’s strategic plans for outreach throughout the communities and strengthening community relations.
