NASSAU, BAHAMAS — The Bahamas’ private aviation segment is seeing a “considerable increase” in activity according to a well-known private aviation executive, who told Eyewitness News that from September to-date was about 50 percent over the same period in previous years.
Rick Gardner, a US commercial pilot, flight instructor and Bahamas flying ambassador, told Eyewitness News, “We are seeing a considerable increase in activity. The months of September, October and November month-to-date are running about 50 percent above the same months in prior years. We are seeing traffic to The Bahamas is up considerably and we are not seeing any pushback regarding the COVID testing requirements in place for travel to The Bahamas. We hope that this trend continues and that the months of December, January and February continue with these trends.”
Gardner noted that earlier this month he conducted a webinar on flying private planes to The Bahamas at the request of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Safety Team.
“The presentation was extremely well attended and we got a lot of positive questions and feedback during and after the presentation. We have also put together a guided adventure to take a group of private planes to The Bahamas in February and we are getting a lot of interest and requests for information. In short, demand seems to be extremely positive,” said Gardner.
