The government is expected to spend an estimated $360,000 on pothole repair this year alone, according to Minister of Public Works Desmond Bannister.
Bannister told Eyewitness News via phone on Monday, that “seven to eight persons “are currently contracted to fix potholes for $50,000 each.
Motorists complained to Eyewitness News that potholes are a dime a dozen and end up costing them thousands in repairs annually, with new tires costing on average, between $60 and $150.
Meanwhile, many tire shops have turned the dilemma into an economic win, such as Battery and Tire Specialists located on Arundel Street.
According to company employees, the business sees between 50 -100 cars daily – roughly equating just over $1 million per year in sales.
