Police seize drugs, pistol in two separate incidents

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Police in the capital recently recovered a quantity of drugs and a pistol in two separate incidents.

In the first incident, police arrested a Bahamian male after he was found to be in possession of suspected marijuana on Monday, March 11.

According to police reports, shortly before 11:00 p.m., officers from the Flying Squad Unit, while on mobile patrol in the area of New Hope Drive saw two men acting in a suspicious manner.

One of the men ran once he saw the officer and the second male, who was arrested, was found to have 37 packets of suspected marijuana in his possession.

The male was taken into custody for questioning and investigations are ongoing.

In the second incident, police in New Providence recovered a quantity of dangerous drugs and an illegal firearm on Tuesday, March 12.

According to police reports, shortly after midnight on Tuesday, Offices from Flying Squad Unit, acting on intelligence, conducted a search of an abandoned building located on New Hope Drive and uncovered two clear plastic packages of suspected marijuana and a .357 Glock pistol.

No arrests were made and investigations are ongoing.
