Police recover illegal firearms in separate incidents

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Police recovered a number of illegal firearms from the streets of New Providence this past weekend in separate incidents.

In the first incident, shortly before 4:00 p.m. on Friday, Drug Enforcement Unit Officers, acting on information, went to a bushy area on Bahama Avenue off Market Street, where they searched and recovered a black .380mm pistol with two rounds of ammunition.

In the second incident, shortly after 8:00 p.m. on Friday, officers, acting on information, proceeded to Daisy Lane in Garden Hills #2, where they searched an abandoned truck and recovered a .40 pistol with 14 rounds of ammunition.

No arrests were made in these Friday incidents and investigations are ongoing.

Also, last Thursday, March 21, an illegal firearm was recovered by officers of the Central Detective Unit.

According to police reports, shortly after 9:00 p.m. last Thursday, Central Detective Unit Officers, acting on information, conducted a search of a residence on Ragged Island Street in Coconut Grove and recovered a .9mm Glock Pistol with 18 rounds of ammunition.

No arrests were made in this incident and investigations are ongoing.
