Police recover $3,000 worth of suspected marijuana, firearm
NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Police arrested three people for possession of suspected marijuana in two separate incidents, and another man for possession of an illegal firearm.
Officers found five small plastic bags filled with suspected marijuana after they searched a man and his car during a traffic stop shortly after 10am on Thursday. Police said the man began acting suspicious after he was stopped by officers for a traffic violation on Carmichael Road.

The drugs weighed at 1.6 pounds, and valued at $1,060.00. The second recovery took place in Bullocks Harbour, Berry Islands.

According to police, officers on routine patrol stopped a black car with two men inside shortly before 6pm on Thursday. After a search of the vehicle, a box with two pounds of suspected marijuana was found in the trunk. One man was reportedly taken into custody. The drugs have an estimated street value of $2,000.

Meanwhile, Berry Island Division officers arrested a man for possession of an illegal firearm. According to reports, officers went to the government dock in Bullocks Harbour, where they saw a man exit a vehicle and walk to the rear of the restrooms with an object in his hand.

The officers approached the man, and recovered a 9mm firearm after a search of the area of the restroom where he was seen.

The men in all three matters are expected to be formally charged in Magistrate’s Court.
