Police investigate alleged drowning

Police on the island of New Providence are investigating the alleged drowning of a man that took place on Thursday.

According to reports, shortly before noon yesterday, a man dove into the waters on the western end of Potter’s Cay Dock, near the stalls and did not surface.

Officers from the Police Marine Unit and the Royal Bahamas Defence Force (RBDF) conducted a search of the surrounding area. but did not locate the male.

Shortly after 9:00 p.m., RBDF marine divers recovered the body of the missing man in waters near some fishing vessels, south of the police station.

An autopsy will be performed to determine the exact cause of death.

Investigations are ongoing.
