Police foil drug operation

NASSAU, BAHAMAS –  Five adult males are expected to appear before the court sometime this week, after they were arrested for the alleged possession of dangerous drugs during an anti-crime operation dubbed, “Steady the Land”.

The Operation was conducted throughout New Providence on Thursday, January 17.

According to police reports, shortly after 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, the Officers from the Operations Team, acting on information, went to a bushy area off Kemp Road, where they discovered five adult males.

Officers conducted a search of the immediate area and recovered 40 packages of suspected marijuana, weighing 22 lbs.

The men were taken into custody and are expected to be charged before a magistrate court this week.

The operation, which is consistent with the Commissioner’s 2018 Policing Priority #1 Prevention and Reduction of Crime, targeted persons involved in criminal activities, prolific offenders, persons wanted for outstanding court warrants.
