NASSAU, BAHAMAS – There will be a Changing of the Guard Ceremony at Police Headquarters on East Street North, beginning today at 11:00 a.m.

The changing of the guard is a historic ceremony which began in the early years of policing.

The Guard is posted at the entrance gate of police headquarters and is responsible for the security of the office of the Commissioner of Police, and the entire compound of Police Headquarters.

The New Guard, which will feature an all-female Sentry, will march from the Post Office on East Hill Street into Police Headquarters, and take over the responsibilities of the Old Guard in a formal ceremony accompanied by music, provided by the Royal Bahamas Police Force Band.

The ceremony will last around 45 minutes.

The Royal Bahamas Police Force said the ceremony is free and the public is invited to attend.
