PM right to focus on climate change, says activist

Political commentator and Beyond the Headlines (BTH) contributor Graham Weatherford said despite United States (US) President Donald Trump’s focus on trade with China, migration and trade during his recent address at the United Nations (UN), the prime ministers address should “100 per cent” be focused on the issue of climate change.

“Climate change – we’ve had many prime ministers go to Copenhagen, we’ve gone to France with Cop 21, we’ve gone to the United Nations (UN) with our last prime minister. Here we’re doing talk, talk, talk again,” Weatherford said.

“We really need to focus on energy security and energy that would actually still be secure during and after a hurricane God forbid.

“And we need to focus on not telling people to leave islands like Ragged Island but maybe we need to focus on building round homes like in Yellow Elder that have withstood 60 years of hurricane damage.”
