PM, delegation arrive in London for CHOGM meetings

Prime Minister Dr. Hubert Minnis has landed in London, England to attend the 25th session of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM).

dialogue surrounding climate change and how it affects the 53 countries of The Commonwealth will top the agenda at this year’s sitting. Under the theme ‘Towards a common future,’ the meetings will also focus on ensuring that the Commonwealth is “responsive to global challenges and delivers a more prosperous, secure, sustainable and fair future for all its citizens, particularly its young people.”

The prime minister and his delegation were met at London Gatwick Airport, late Monday night by Bahamas High Commissioner to the United Kingdom (UK) of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, His Excellency Ellison Greenslade along with representatives from Buckingham Palace and the Foreign and Commonwealth Office – UK CHOGM Team.

The meeting will begin with the Commonwealth Business Forum, People’s Forum, Women’s Forum, and Youth Forum. Minister of Foreign Affairs Darren Henfield is expected to attend the Pre-CHOGM Meeting of Commonwealth Foreign Ministers.

Dr. Minnis, Henfield and High Commissioner Greenslade will attend the Formal Opening of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting at Buckingham Palace.

The international forum commenced April 16 and will culminate April 20.
