NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) leader, Philip Brave Davis, on Thursday offered condolences to the family of former PLP senator Calvin Neilly.

“I learned with sadness of the passing of former Senator Calvin Neilly. This is another sign that an era has come to an end,” Davis said in an issued statement.

“In his day, this Pindling PLP, was a determined advocate for the progressive cause, first in his native Eleuthera and then in Nassau.

“When he was asked to represent the party, he always answered the call and served on our behalf in the Senate.”

Davis said he felt a close and personal relationship with Neilly, because he was a contemporary of his late father, Philip Brave Davis, Sr.

“He goes to his eternal rest with the love, honour and devotion of our party. The nation owes him a debt of gratitude,” Davis said.

“I extend condolences to the family on behalf of my wife Ann, our Deputy Leader Chester Cooper and all the officers and members of the party. May he rest in peace.”
