A petition for the removal of the principal at the C.R. Walker Senior High School, T. Nicola McKay, garnered more than 2,000 signatures over the weekend.
The petition was started on Friday by irate parents Carlton Moss and Monifa Dames, who told Eyewitness News that their daughter Carleil was reportedly bullied by Administration at the School because of the length of her skirt.
According to Moss, the issue arose in early September when his daughter was called into the school’s head office for an infraction as it relates to her skirt. The issue, she said, only went from a heated parent-administrator meeting to reported threats of expulsion and written complaints sent to the Ministry of Education, but such measures, she said, were not effective.
Meanwhile, it is alleged that a heated meeting between the teen’s parents and the school’s principal recently went viral.
The video along with the petition has gained a lot of attention and has also brought to light the accusations of many students and parents who have alleged that they have been in similar situations with McKay.
Comment’s about McKay’s reported behaviour were posted on the petition’s website, Facebook and Twitter.
Presently the petition has over 2,000 signatures and only needs 2,500.
Eyewitness News attempted to reach out to McKay for comment over the weekend but was unsuccessful in our efforts.
Complaints about the principal’s strict rules as it relates to appearance was highlighted a few years ago when a student was allegedly suspended for wearing her natural hair in an afro puff style.
