Orlando Magic hosts Bahamas basketball camp

The Baha Mar Resort, in conjunction with the Orlando Magic, hosted a single-day skills clinic for several of the campers from the Jeff Rogers Basketball Camp yesterday at the Kendal Isaacs Gymnasium.

The clinic was centered on the fundamentals of the game and what it takes to make it to the next level off the court.

“I had a great time here with the kids,” said Orlando Magic Community Relations Representative Nick Anderson.

“Everyone was responsive, paying attention. You could see in their faces that they wanted to learn something from this. They were also very competitive. That’s what I like. Some of the kids were a bit more skilled than the other, but they all really showed a lot. We took them through a lot of shooting drills, because that’s important in today’s game. We also touched on some passing, rebounding and dribbling as well. I always found that it is great to know a lot about a little of everything.”

Rodgers said that he was grateful to both Baha Mar and the Magic for providing the children with such a unique experience.

“It was a lot of fun to have a few former National Basketball Association players here with the kids today,” Rodgers said.

“This is just an avenue that Baha Mar is using to give back to the community and I’m glad they asked me to be a part of it.”
