NASSAU, BAHAMAS — Over 1,000 individuals and global leaders who work to solve some of the world’s most pressing issues recently gathered in New York City for this year’s Clinton Global Initiative (CGI).

Among attendees was the Organization for Responsible Governance’s (ORG) Executive Director, Matt Aubry, who represented the non-profit that focuses on accountable governance, education reform, and economic development in The Bahamas.

According to a press release from ORG, Aubry was honored to be sponsored by CGI to attend the two-day event and connect with high-level representatives from civil society, the private sector, and the government. As a result of his participation, ORG met with numerous potential partners interested in assisting with its objectives.

“I met dynamic and innovative leaders from every sector of Latin America and the Caribbean, Africa, South Asia, North America, and Europe,” Aubry said.

“The participants at CGI shared a dedication to social justice and a commitment to meaningfully engaging people to develop solutions to the issues that affect their communities.”

In addition to Clinton Foundation President, Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State, Hilary Clinton, conference speakers included global activists Malala Yousafzai and Delores Huerta; the Prime Minister of Barbados, Mia Mottley; Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelenskyy; Queen Raina Jordan; Entertainers Bono of U2, Ashley Judd and Lin Manuel Miranda; Co-Founder of the Gates Foundation, Melinda Gates and Director General for the World Trade Organization, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.

Aubry added: “Throughout the CGI sessions, we heard about the critical role that governance and citizen engagement play in developing sustainable solutions to long-term problems. This approach reinforces the importance of ORG’s efforts in The Bahamas to provide citizens with civic education and engagement opportunities. By leveraging the power of the people, the nation can move forward.”

The Clinton Global Initiative was derived from the Clinton Foundation and founded by former United States President Bill Clinton.
